Popcorn lovin' @ Chicago Popcorn!

Together with boyfie and my sister, we decided to go at S&R for the love of my Poppycock popcorn. That blue tin can of Chocolate Gourmet Popcorn, drizzled with gooey Caramel, Chocolate syrup plus chunks of Chocolate and Almond is simply irresistible!  

But sad to say, only Poppycock's Almond Pecan is available. So I've decided to try the Chicago Gourmet Popcorn that I've been hearing around.
This is their kiosk in SM Megamall. Located at 3rd floor, inbetween the connector of building A and B.
 I loved the tin metalic can they have, it's reusable! Ha!
They offered me free taste of everything, Cheese Classic, Caramel Crisp, Chicago Mix, Almond Caramel Crisp, and The Chocolate Mix. I was about to buy their Almond Caramel Crisp but my sweet toothbuds protested, and said NO!  Yup, I had their Chocolate Mix as a substitute to my ever delish Poppycock.
The Popcorn has these thick Caramel and Chocolate drizzled all over. It's a great snack and dessert at the same time!  I can't help myself by opening the can over and over again.  However, my only complain is that 30% of the popcorn are compose of plain white Kernels, while the remaining 70% is the genuine Caramel/Chocolate Popcorn. Tinipid much?  Next time, i'll go for their Almond Caramel Crisp and hoping that it's made up of 100% pure Chicago Love!

Movie Review: THE HANGOVER 3

Twas such a long time after I made a movie review. Why? I'm having a hard time with my schedule and watching some movies. But nevertheless, I make sure that I MUST put the HANGOVER 3 on my schedule.  I'm such a fanatic of this movie from The Hangover (1) where it all started, when they had a misadventures when they spent the entire day at Las Vegas for a Bachelor party for their friend Doug (Justin Bartha). 

The Hangover 2 wherein after their drunken adventures they had 2 years ago in Vegas, it's Stu's (Ed Helms) wedding this time to a Thailander girl named Lauren (Jamie Chung)Their adventure started when the brother of Lauren  got lost in the middle of Bangkok! 

And now finally, the last and epic finale The Hangover 3

Personally, I was really sad when I found out that it's the last part of the movie. I mean, how can this happen? Twas such an spectacular movie after all! As soon as they released the movie here in the Philippines, me and boyfie bought the ticket. I don't wanna spoil those of you who will watch the movie in the future. But one thing I have to say is that, I got disappointed. Don't get me wrong, the movie is really nice. And definitely worth the watch. Maybe I just expected too much that it would be as awesome as ever! And expected that it would still be the same Hangover thingy. ;)

Lunch out @ Cookbook Kitchen

We decided to dine at Cookbook after playing bowling with my Looloo friends. The place is average. 
Not the type of i-want-to-dine-there resto. Not big nor small, well lighted but a bit hot when we arrived there? 
Wifi is available! They have CR which I don't know what it looks like since it's brown out & completely dark when I went
Their service was average. Friendly enough to answer our question (though not that knowledgeable with their products) but it's nice of them to take our pictures with smile on their faces! 

*We ordered the following*
Parmesan White Crusted Fish- The highlight of the entire meal, IMO. A perfectly baked Cream Dory topped with parmesan cheese that has butter-y goodness in every bite! Winner! 
Aglio Olio - Was OK. It has the right spiciness that I'm looking for. Not oily but the pasta were overcooked? Or I just preffer the Al dente one?
Fruitti de Mari- Tomato Based pasta with different kinds of seafood on it. Twas OK, though I find it bland at some point? Maybe a dash of salt will do.  And!!! Again, the pasta was overcooked.
Temecula Ribs- This would be my second fave after the Crusted Fish. Served with baby potatoes and pineapple. Though it's exaggeratedly sweet, I liked it!  Coz it reminds me of "hamonado" which is my fave since kiddo. Hahaha! But i think it's better if they put lesser sauce on the dish. 
Red Velvet Cake - My sweeth tooth cried upon tasting their version.  hahaha! I'm sorry but their cake is too dry and not moist at all! Sprinkled with Swissmiss/Nesquik powdered milk drink that didn't helped at all.

Overall, twas a nice experience. Will definitely go back to try out their other dish!

Looloo Eat Up Dinner Buffet @ Chef Laudico

The setting of the Looloo Eat Up is @ Chef Laudico in P. Guevarra San Juan. The setting is like an Old Filipino Mansion turned into a restaurant. Well lighted and ventilated, painted with classic white walls. 
 "HI MAM SIR, WELCOME TO CHEF LAUDICO!" as we arrived. They are pretty hands on during our entire stay. They are prompt and fast. Fast enough and tell us that the buffet should be 2 hours only. SRSLY, from all the buffet I've been to, that's the only buffet that has a time limit (2 hour maximum stay.)  I thought it's "Eat Until We Drop" scenario!
 Their buffet has a limited selection of foods. From the appetizers down to their dessert. 
 The highlight of their Buffet is their Angus Beef . Yes! That deadly scrumptious beef! 
 What stood out from the rest is their Grilled Section, IMO.

 The Grilled Tuna(?), Pork, Chicken were tender and flavorful 
 Their other cooked foods were good as well. 
The pesto, which happens to be my favorite lacks its flavor bigtime, and swimming in oil! :(
As for their dessert, nothing to raved about, better skip the breads. Even with their Ice Cream. It's almost melted already. (on a thin line border of Soft served and Melted ice cream)

From all the desserts that they have, I truly loved their Chocolate Yema Truffle! A dusted dark chocolate powder outside, filled with gooey and not so sweet Yema. Winner! :)

`Here's a little secret: They also have hidden dessert. You cannot see it on the buffet table, you have to ask them first before they will serve it to you. Halo Halo and Brazo de Mercedes
I really thought it's huge. But to found out that it's miniature version. 
And here's the Brazo de Mercedes. Both of the desserts was just OK for me.

Famous Belgian Waffles!

I keep on hearing about this Famous Belgian Waffles All over, and I'm dying to try that for myself!
So when I saw their stall, I didn't think twice to see what's the rave all about. 
 They have 16 different flavors to choose from
 The difference of their waffle compare with others is that, the batter placed in the waffle maker is just a bit. So the tendency is that the texture of their waffle is crispy on the outsite and soft inside
 Then smothered it with your desired flavor
 then after a couple of minutes, it's done. It's not like those Waffle Stores that will cook the waffle before hand, here in Famous Belgian Waffle, they make it as you buy it.

FBW retains the crisp consistency on the outside which I appreciate since they just put a little batter on the waffle maker. Above photo is their Blueberry Cream Cheese - twas good, but I can't barely taste the flavor.
Banana Hazelnut (best seller) and tastes good too! 
We also ordered for their Straberry Cream Cheese - which tastes like the above mention waffle and 
Ham and Cream Cheese - that has super tiny triangular shape of ham, topped with cream cheese. How is it? Just OK.

I wished they put more filling on their waffle. (though I'm not sure if it's with this branch only) I can't barely taste the fillings they put, but for 35 pesos? Why not chocnut!

BONO Artisanal Gelato @ SM Makati

Here it is! One of the most raved gelato store in the metro! As a sweet tooth foodie, 
I'm really curious AND a bit envy, (hahaha) seeing tons of review with BONO Artisanal Gelato.
  and since it's in SM Makati, it's really hard for me to try it. Finally, after 3 and half hours of traffic! Damn!
Here it goes, I ordered the Speculoos while boyfie ordered the Cereal and Milk!

For those who are unfamiliar with Speculoos, Speculoos is a popular Cookie Butter Spread from US. Popular enough that it's being compared with the well loved Nutella. What's so special with Speculoos? It's made up of Crushed Biscuits. And ofcourse, since it's from US, twas such a hype here in Philippines.
 Look at that pretty looking walls! 
 Since two scoops per order, we exchange after eating our part. Our verdict?
 The Speculoos (right side) was just OK. I'm not a fan of Speculoos. My taste buds disapproves it, I'm sorry. Chunks of cookie bits with cinnamon-is flavor, not a fan.  I find this too sweet, considering I love sweets.
 Cereals and Milk compare to the latter, I preferred this one. It's true that it's like a freshly drenched cereal on a bowl of milk, turned into a gellato.

 Overall, it's good. But not going back and travel for 3 and half hours for BONO, I'll just look for alternative. But the goodnews is, I've heard they will open a store in SM Megamall. Noys! :)

Dinner buffet: HEAT @ EDSA Shangrila

I admit that HEAT @ EDSA Shangrila is one of my fave hotel buffet. So when we found out that it's half price, we didn't think twice! That's when me and my friends celebrated our 2 years in IBM and 94th month with boyfie as well!  ayiee! Okay enough of that, hahaha!

*So here's OUR plate* - (hahah! yes, it's our plate!!)

Out of 5, I will rate this as 3 star despite I'm a HEAT fanatic. Well, the quality of food they served were Lowered. I expected this at some point since it's a promo. Compared to my last visit, everything seems ordinary from appetizers to main and down to my fave part, dessert. Yes, it broke my heart!
 Their cheese choices were limited. And their bread? It's hard as rock! :O
 Their Seafoods particularly their crab, is huge and has a crab fat! Nom! 
Though the other shell fishes were really hard. I can't even chew it. It's seems that it's a rubber! eek!
 Their dimsum which I enjoyed the most were good. Especially their dumplings! Huge and juicy shrimp inside were tasty! Their Hakao is just so-so. The wrapper is thick and not that tasty at all. Chicken feet and Spareribs which should be a must in a dimsum is not there. 
Their US Angus Beef were flavorful, but still can't stand on its own so putting of sauce is a must. But, it's tough!  
 A friend had this one, and she said it's good.
 Also my friend's plate, since I'm not a fan of suhshi etc, and he loves this big time! 
 Their cooked foods (Western and Eastern) were cooked nicely! Flavorful and tender just the way it should be. 
Except on Indian Cuisine since I'm not a fan, i'd rather not to comment since I would be bias. 
 Their pasta were below average. I opted for their Pesto (Pesto Lover here) that is just forgettable. 
Lacks of taste and no omph factor. I'd still prefer the one in Spiral which is the most delish pesto I had.
Their Carbonara is good. We were asked what would be the ingredients we want for our pasta, and it did not disappoint. But I'm still looking for a thicker sauce which their Carbonara didn't have

*Finally, their Dessert! It's not a saving grace actually. Most of their dessert were just normal. Only their Chocolate Panacotta and Blueberry Cheesecake stood out, while the rest is MEEH! *

  • Good thing we had a reservation because the place were packed after an hour. Twas my first time seeing that place really crowded. Everything is well organized despite of the crowd, low lighted to keep the classy vibe.
  • The one that served us all the way is very attentive. There's not even a time when we ask for their attention coz they will insistedly fill up our glass, get utensils and clean our table everytime. Though over all, their service was just average. I noticed their reception outside were bit "aligaga" because of the crowd.

I don't know what happened to HEAT, but i believe that they just lowered the food quality since it's a promo. 
I'll definitely back for their regular rate for the final judgement!
